Occupying around a third of the country's territory, forests are of great importance to our country, particularly in terms of their reserves of animal and plant species, their contribution to regulating the hydrological cycle, their influence on the regional and local microclimate, soil fixation, etc.

The power and strategic influence that municipalities exert over society and citizens must be geared towards achieving sustainable solutions that include sustainable mobility, in a broad context that also promotes well-being and health. These issues were discussed with a practical example of Lisbon's urban mobility policies.

The UC aims to reflect on the Agenda 2030 and the seventeen SDGs, their origins, and implementation methods. After presenting the holistic and systemic view of sustainability, the current frame of sustainable development will be analysed by recurring to some paradigmatic cases and action areas.
In addition to lectures on various topics related to sustainability, students will present the 17 SDGs (meaning, trade-offs, current situation and change trends). We hope that such a strategy will lead to more significant appropriation and understanding of the processes of social change that, since 2015, have been taking place under the 2030 Agenda.
