11 Janeiro 2024, 18:00 • João Guerra
The final session sought, above all, to discuss results. i.e., see to what extent the students had assimilated new knowledge. In the second part, the evaluation was discussed, and strategies were suggested to produce an essay that could be well evaluated.
Extra sessions
were also suggested for those who needed more support in preparing their final
essay.

Presentation and discussion of essay’s
projects (I)
The
present and the previous sessions were spaces for discussing the SDGs, their
purposes and their targets. By giving the students a space to reflect, the aim
was to promote a more participatory way of reflecting on the possibilities and
opportunities in each of the 17 SDGs, based on all the previous sessions and
the discussion that each sought to instigate.

Terra Sintrópica: Regenerative practices of agriculture
30 Novembro 2023, 18:00 • João Guerra
Regenerative
agriculture is a farming idea that aims to rehabilitate soil and maintain it productive
for as long as possible to avoid expanding to new places at the expense of
forest logging, for example. Soil fertility is needed to grow crops for human
use and to supply feed for cattle. In such a way, animals will have more food in
grazing fields and be more productive. In order to show an experience being
developed in the municipality of Mértola, Marta Cortegano (Terra Sintrópica)
brought the discussion about the concept into the classroom.
Looking for culture along the sustainability path
23 Novembro 2023, 18:00 • João Guerra
In
policy discourses concerned with sustainable development, culture is considered
only marginally. However, there is a growing awareness of some of the functions
attributed to it: When culture is understood as a prerequisite for social
change, the functions attributed are those of value-system, mode of
place-making and identity-building. The session explored the relationship
between sustainability and culture by examining the significance
and
potential of it for sustainable development.
