Localising the Agenda 2030. The case of ODSlocal
12 Outubro 2023, 18:00 • João Guerra
The ODSlocal
is a platform for the Sustainable Development Goals at the municipal level. Developed
in Portugal, the platform and its portal provide a tool to monitor the
evolution of municipalities concerning the various SDG targets through progress
indicators created from national databases and data from the municipalities
themselves. The platform also aims to map innovative and sustainable
initiatives implemented by local authorities (promoters of Good Practices),
civil society, and companies (where the Projects are located) and evaluate their
contributions to the SDGs.

Sustainable Development and the Agenda
2030
The
first session included: i) the analysis of the social archetypes, the
discrepancies between discourses and practices, and the slippage factors that
have characterised sustainable development from its origins to today; addressed
some indicators (e.g. trends in ecological footprint and social inequality)
that reflect the dynamics of global (in)sustainability; and presented
sustainability as a fundamental programmatic concept for transforming society.
By
involving students in the discussion, an attempt was made to identify the
conditions that will make sustainability possible in the critical circumstances
humanity faces.
Presentation
21 Setembro 2023, 18:00 • João Guerra
The
first session was used to introduce the subject, its objectives, themes to be
explored, methods and planned assessment times.
Secondly,
after the students had introduced themselves, there was a practical exercise in
which the meaning attributed to the idea of sustainability and sustainable
development was explored. The aim was to demonstrate the elasticity of the
concept meanings, which is gaining in dissemination and acceptance but losing effectiveness.
