Brief explanation of the main issues surrounding sound and main approaches in the context of Multimedia Art and the like.

Discussion of how we hear (passive) and how we listen (active).

Steve Peter’s “Hearings” – translation of sound to text (towards sound notes)

Hildegarde Westerkamp “Kit Beach Soundwalk” – The electroacoustic chain and basic stages of sound creation: listening, planning, recording, creative editing and processing, mixing and mastering.

Exploring place by listening, acoustics can lead to surprising things. How we hear, how we listen, what we listen for – from early human survival, to aesthetics.
